We’ve always been a fan of Sabatasso’s individual deep dish pizzas. For awhile they were a staple in our freezer…great for lunch or even dinner when paired with a salad. We bought them at Costco regularly. We were therefore intrigued when the offer was made for us to try out Sabatasso’s New Thin and Crispy Gluten Free Pizza.
We aren’t a family who needs gluten-free foods, but because we had enjoyed Sabatasso’s products in the past, we were happy to give this new kind of pizza a try. As the parents of a fairly selective almost four-year-old, pizza tends to be a stand-by meal for us and we were curious to see whether Nate would like it, too.
Full disclosure: Sabatasso’s sent us so many pizzas that there were literally enough to stock our freezer for the summer and share a box or two with our neighbours, who have teenage boys! Their generosity with respect to this product trial was very impressive.
We have been enjoying the thin and crispy crust on Sabatasso’s Gluten-Free Four Cheese Pizza…we don’t like our pizza to be very doughy, and Graham and I both commented that the crust has a delicious flavour that is both unlike other pizzas but we also didn’t taste anything unusual (it was our first experience with gluten-free food). Because these pizzas only have cheese as a topping, if we are eating it for dinner I will gather some veggies from the garden to chop up and put on top, which Graham and I have both enjoyed. Nate likes to eat the pizza plain. His only complaint is that because it is a thin crust pizza, it tends to be a bit “floppy” at first, which makes it tricky for him to eat. Once it has cooled enough to stop “flopping” he loves it.
I’m told Tyler and Travis across the street snarfed back the pizza with their friends one afternoon this summer. When I told them it was gluten-free, Travis asked what that meant. They hadn’t noticed anything out of the ordinary with it at all.
Sabatasso’s Gluten-Free Four Cheese Pizza retails at our local Costco for $12.99 for a box containing two pizzas. Two thumbs up!
