Graham and I have been trying really hard to eat better lately. I’m really proud of him, actually. Doing this together makes life much easier when it comes to cooking meals, too. We have different goals in terms of our health, but working at them together is almost joyful. We’ve been geeking out, using an app called My Fitness Pal, and it seems to work well for us because it forces us to be accountable for what we’re eating.
Today for lunch I made this Homemade Pizza Margherita recipe. I made this thin-crust pizza with a pita crust, a bit of sauce, a bit of cheese, some sliced tomato and a dash of freshly picked and chopped herbs from the garden to top it all off. We shared the pizza, enjoying it alongside a salad of greens, also freshly picked. We’re still enjoying the foods we like but we’re learning about portion sizes and cutting back on unnecessary extras like gobs of cheese and oodles of salad dressing. Bottled salad dressing seems to ruin the wonderful fresh taste of the greens we’re growing out back, anyway.
I can’t wait to make this later in the summer when the tomatoes are from our very own garden, too!
